1001 Nights of Rangeela

Salam Namaste!
"Today is your day to paint life in bold colours,
set today's rhythm with your heart-drum,
walk today's march with courage.
Create today as your celebration of life." - Jonathan Lockwood Huie
Mabrook or bahut-bahut badhai to the organizer of our annual dinner this year for the fabulous work! Organising a themed dinner like this one could be very tough task to handle but you have fabulously succeeded in making it happen for real. We deeply believe that each and everyone of you deserve this wonderful recognition of merits for your exuberant commitment and contribution to this event from day one. The entire evening was indeed a very colourful and memorable moment to all of us.

The name "1001 Nights of Rangeela" was chosen specifically to show the fusion between Arabic and Bollywood themes. 1001 Nights is often known in English as the Arabian Nights while Rangeela means "colourful"  in Hindi. Our annual optometry dinner this year was held in a beautifully decorated ballroom at Zam-Zam Arabic Restaurant, Shah Alam.

During the Optometry Annual Dinner and Awards 2015, we welcomed the Dean of Health Sciences Faculty, Colonel Dr. Amir Muhriz Bin Abdul Latif, Deputy Dean of Health Sciences, Dr. Mohd. Hanafi Bin Ali, our Coordinator of Optometry Department, Professor Dr. Norhani Binti Muhidin and our advisor, Madam Elly Liyana Binti Nordin. Their presence on that night has graced the event even more.

The organiser have organised an informal session that comprises of lucky draws, performances from each batch and also award giving ceremony as an appreciation for the final year students.

Aside from that, it is like a tradition in any other annual dinner to acknowledge and appreciate the guests who stood out most prominently from the others that night. Here are the pictures of the guests who won the titles King and Queen of the Night on that magnificent Bolly-Arab night.

The title King of the Night was embraced by this dashing-looking former Optimist president,
a final year student, Mr. Dzul Hisham Md. Razali!

And, the title Queen of the Night was embraced by this beautiful Arab-looking young lady,
also a final year student, Miss Nursyazwani Tawang!

It's very obvious why they both won isn't it? Both donning a very stunning traditional kurta and saree. Congratulations or mabrook or bahut-bahut badhai to the King and Queen!

Smiles and giggles were seen and heard from the guests that night when we ended our 1001 Nights of Rangeela with a photography session. Look! It was such a jaw-dropping sight because everyone dressed amazingly according to the theme of the event. What a rangeela kind of night!

This dinner could not be made possible without the presence of the final year students. So, for the ones being celebrated, here's a poem especially dedicated to you,

"Graduation Day is a day to mark a tremendous accomplishment. You could not have come to this day without a lot of hard work. There may have been days when you felt that you could not continue, and yet you did. The moment when you are called up to the stage to receive your degree, resplendent in your cap and gown, is a moment to savor. You can not lose what has now been given to you. Whether it is a high school, college, graduate, or doctoral diploma, that achievement will be yours forever. Now go on and take on the world!"

Good luck in future, be a wise Optometrist and make us proud!
