OPTIMIST 8th Annual General Meeting

Assalamualaikum and greetings!

Ending 2015 with our 8th Optometry Annual General Meeting!

Thursday, 17th December 2015 - Two days before AGM was the day of election for the new committee. All members of OPTIMIST were required to vote for candidates running for the new OPTIMIST High Committee seats. The neutral members were assigned to count the votes and the names of winning candidates were only announced during the AGM.

So who are the next President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of OPTIMIST for term 2015/2016? Here, we would like to welcome these new faces as the new OPTIMIST High Committee members for Session 2015/2016! Please accept our warm congratulations on your victory in this year's election!

Ahmad Shazwan Bin Mohammad
PRESIDENT
Nurul Sazalina Binti Sarajuddin
VICE PRESIDENT

Nur Kamaliah Binti Kazim
SECRETARY
Nur Fathahana Binti Azhar
TREASURER

With the new responsibilities given, we trust that these new faces will continue to work hard to carry the name of this association to a higher level, especially to the international level. Please be informed that you will always have our full support. We wish you all the best as you will be the next leaders that will represent us.

Saturday, 19th December 2015 - The timing this year was a little odd from all the other AGMs that we ever had in the previous years. This year it was held on the last week of the semester because the top management have instructed that all 9 associations under the Faculty of Health Sciences to hold their respective Annual General Meeting at the same time in the same semester.

First of all, we would like to congratulate the former OPTIMIST High Committee members and also the Executive Commitee members for successfully carrying out the mandate trusted to them from the first to the very last day of their service in this association! All these faces have contributed greatly to the association during their tenure. There were numbers of massive events done and big achievements achieved like the Cultural Study to Perth Australia and World Sight Day 2015. Well done!

It has become a tradition in every AGM held to present and discuss the following reports & agendas:
  • Minutes of previous AGM
  • Reports from the secretary on the achievements and works of the assocation for the past year.
  • Reports of the receiving and outflow of the association's annual financial statements and the treasurer's report thereon for the past year.
  • Election of new High Committee members for the next year in place of those retiring.
  • Discussion on changes for the association.

"Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts." - Alan Cohen

The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you! :)
